You replied to one of our support ticket emails, waited, and heard nothing back — as if the reply vanished. It probably did not bounce, and you did not do anything wrong. It almost certainly came from an email address our system does not recognize.
How ticket replies work
When you reply to a ticket email, our helpdesk checks the address the reply came from. If that address is registered on your account, the reply is attached to the ticket and we see it right away. If it comes from any other address, the reply is silently held — it does not reach the ticket, and unfortunately you do not get a warning that this happened.
This trips people up in very ordinary ways: replying from a work address when the account was set up with a personal one, a phone that sends from a secondary address, or a colleague replying on your behalf from their own inbox.
Check which address your account uses
- Log in to the client portal at dependentmedia.com/hosting.
- Open your Account details.
- The email address shown there is the one the system recognizes — replies from it always reach us.
Add the other addresses you reply from
If you regularly write from more than one address, or someone else on your team handles support, add them as contacts so their replies are accepted too:
- In the client portal, go to Account → Contacts (sometimes shown as Contacts/Sub-Accounts).
- Add a new contact with the name and email address you want recognized.
- Tick the option to allow that contact to receive or send support emails, and save.
From then on, replies from that address are attached to your tickets like any other.
If a reply already went missing
Do not retype everything from memory. Just send the same reply again from your registered address, or log in to the portal and paste it directly into the ticket — replies made inside the portal always get through, no matter which email you are logged in with.
