What it is
Developer Access is a monthly add-on ($19/mo per site) for clients who want hands-on technical access to their site — for themselves, their developer, or an automation tool or AI agent working on their behalf. Regular hosting includes a managed site where we make the changes; Developer Access adds the keys, with clear ground rules that keep your site safe.
What's included
- SFTP/SSH access to your website's files, scoped to your own webspace.
- REST API support — WordPress application passwords enabled and supported, so tools and agents can create content programmatically.
- Trusted IPs — up to two static IP addresses (your office, your VPS) registered with the server's security systems so legitimate automated traffic isn't mistaken for an attack.
- A staging copy of your site — a private clone inside your existing hosting space where you (or your tools) can change code freely (a fully separate second website with its own space is a different service — just ask). When you're happy, we promote the changes to the live site. We'll refresh staging from the live site on request.
- A dedicated automation user — automated tools get their own limited WordPress account (Author-level), never an administrator login, so a misbehaving tool can at most affect posts, not the site.
- DNS your way — self-service DNS editing, or your own Cloudflare account with us invited in to help when you want it.
The ground rules
- Code changes happen on staging, not the live site. Content (posts, pages, media) via the API on the live site is exactly what it's for. Automated code edits go to staging first — that's what it exists for.
- We back up nightly, always. If a change of yours breaks the site, one restore per month is included. Additional restores, or hands-on repair of changes made through your access, are billed at our standard rate — we'll always tell you before the meter starts.
- Access is named. Each person or tool gets its own credentials. No shared logins, and access is removed if the service is cancelled or suspended.
- We support the platform — the server, PHP, WordPress core, and everything we installed. What you build with the access is yours; we're glad to help with it at our standard rate.
