What's included with your hosting
Email is included with every Dependent Media hosting plan at no extra cost. Each mailbox (for example [email protected]) has 5 GB of space. That holds everything in the mailbox: your Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, Junk and any folders you create.
For most people 5 GB is years of email. Mailboxes that fill up are usually ones that keep large attachments (photos, PDFs, video) or have never emptied Sent or Trash.
Extra Email Storage add-on
- $5 per month adds 20 GB to one mailbox, taking it from 5 GB to 25 GB.
- Stack them. Two add-ons on the same mailbox make it 45 GB; or put one on each of two mailboxes.
- No setup fee, no contract. It's billed monthly with your hosting, and you can cancel any time.
- Nothing changes on your devices. Same address, same password, same settings in Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone. The mailbox simply gets bigger.
How to add it
Open a support ticket, or add Extra Email Storage to your hosting from your Client Area, and tell us which email address it's for. We raise the mailbox within one business day and reply to confirm.
What happens when a mailbox is full
New messages can't be delivered to a full mailbox and are returned to the sender, so it's worth acting before you reach the limit. You'll usually notice first because your email program warns that the mailbox is almost full. Either free up space or add storage.
Freeing up space yourself
- Empty Trash and Junk.
- Sort Sent and your Inbox by size and delete old messages with large attachments you've already saved elsewhere.
- In webmail, the storage meter shows how much of your space you're using.
If you cancel the add-on
Your mailbox goes back to 5 GB. If it holds more than that, nothing is deleted, but new mail can't arrive until it's back under 5 GB. We'll let you know before we make the change so you can tidy up first.
