DM Flowchart Designer Privacy Policy

DM Flowchart Designer (“the App”) is developed by Joshua Jordan (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information. It covers the App on Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
What We Collect
We collect nothing. We operate no servers, no accounts, and no analytics. Your documents, your recordings, and your transcripts are never sent to us, and we have no way to see them.
Two optional features do send data to other companies at your request, and they are described in full below. Neither routes through us.
Your Documents and Settings
Everything the App creates is stored on your device:
- Flowchart documents are saved as JSON files to locations you choose, including iCloud Drive if you put them there.
- Exported images (PNG) and documents (PDF, SVG) are saved to locations you choose.
- App preferences are stored locally using UserDefaults.
- Audio recordings you make in the App are stored in the App’s own folder on your device, and are included inside a document only if you turn that option on.
Audio Recording and Transcription
The App can record audio so it can transcribe a lecture, lesson, or meeting and turn what was said into a diagram. The microphone is used only while you are recording, and only after you grant permission.
Recordings are stored on your device. They are not uploaded to us and are never uploaded to any AI provider.
To turn a recording into text, the App uses Apple’s speech recognition, built into the operating system. By default this uses Apple’s speech service, which means the audio is sent to Apple to be recognised. Apple’s handling of that audio is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. You can avoid this entirely by turning on Transcribe on this device only in Settings, which keeps recognition on your device at some cost to accuracy.
Recording other people. Laws about recording conversations differ by state and country, and in some places every participant must consent. You are responsible for having permission to record.
AI Diagram Generation
The App can generate a flowchart from a text prompt or from a transcript. This feature is off until you supply your own API key for an AI provider, and nothing is ever sent until you ask for a diagram.
When you do, the App sends your prompt or transcript — and, where relevant, the contents of the diagram you are working on — directly from your device to the provider you chose, using your own account and your own key. Supported providers are Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and xAI. What each does with that text is governed by their own policy and by the terms of your account with them:
Your API key is stored in the Keychain on your device. It is sent only to the provider it belongs to, and never to us.
If you never enter a key, the App makes no network requests of any kind apart from the speech recognition described above.
No Analytics or Tracking
The App contains no analytics frameworks, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking technologies. We do not track your usage or behaviour, and no data is used to track you across apps or websites.
No Accounts
The App does not require you to create an account or give us any personal information. Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Children’s Privacy
We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
